This play-based early childhood development program takes place in an inviting, literacy-enriched setting, and includes many different areas for learning. Each session includes child-led play, songs, stories and a healthy snack with appropriate transitioning from each activity modelled by staff. Staff are trained in early childhood development, experienced, competent and committed to working with parents, caregivers and young children.

      Check the current calendar for any closures.

      There is no fee for this program thanks to our generous sponsors and donors. Donations are very much appreciated. Bring a piece of fruit or vegetable to share at snack time.

      The Takaya Family Program is a free learning program for Tsleil Waututh, Squamish and other First Nations families with children from birth to six years old. Everyone will enjoy Learning Together Through Play (LTTP), song and story time, a healthy lunch and Maplewood Farm visits.

      The purpose of the Properties Family Hub is to create a community space for the neighbourhoods of the British Properties and to provide opportunities for families to connect, especially those with young children.The Properties Family Hub Society is responsible for the coordination of the various programs offered at the Hub and for the operation of its three day a week afternoon Properties Preschool.

      Currently, the Properties Family Hub is open Monday to Friday and community partners provide a variety of programs for family members of all ages. Check our schedule program details and times.

      To encourage as many residents as possible to gather at the Properties Hub only a few of our programs are fee-based. We are very fortunate that community partners like North Shore Multicultural Society , West Vancouver Community Centres Society and the West Vancouver Foundation have provided generous funds to support our programs. The West Vancouver School District has provided the space and both the School District and the District of West Vancouver have provided staff support.

      We are very pleased that in the Spring of 2016 the Properties Hub is now home to one of five Early Years Centres located on the North Shore funded by the Early Years Office of the Provincial Government.

      The Parent Child Mother Goose program is a group experience for parents and their babies and young children. The focus is on sharing songs, rhymes and stories. We use language, eye contact and gentle touching to connect parent and child. “Babe in Arms” groups for children from birth to approximately 9 months of age and “On the Move” groups for children who are crawling and walking (approximately 9 months to 2 1/2 years). Registration is online three times a year in December, March and September.
